Get to Know Your Counselor:
Greetings! My name is Kim Zannetti and I am thrilled to be part of the Lindsey family! I am a licensed school counselor, and in my thirty years + in education, have had the privilege of working at every level from Kindergarten to Graduate School. I look forward to many more adventures! While I have been part of the West Geauga Staff for many years, my husband and I have lived and raised our family in Chesterland since 1994. We are proud to call our son and daughter West Geauga graduates!
I know this school year will be both a busy and exciting one! In working with the children and families of Lindsey, our counseling program will teach classroom guidance, run small groups, and meet individually with students. Please feel free to drop by or call me if I can ever be of assistance. You can reach me through the central school office at Lindsey at (440) 729-5980. I hope you and your child/children have a very happy and successful school year!

GUIDANCE LESSONS:
Our classroom guidance sessions revolve around and highlight our school theme of PRIDE (Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Empathy). We start our year getting to know each other; learning how to introduce ourselves as well as how we make friends and sustain healthy relationships.
As we move through the fall, we address bullying issues as October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Every year, we address what bullying is, the different types of bullying, and what we can do when we are being bullied. During class, we learn strategies to prevent bullying-with discussions and activities geared toward the appropriate grade and developmental level of our students.
Focusing and highlighting respect is a key component of our curriculum. We have many conversations on what respect looks like, sounds like and how we should treat others. Many of our children make the connection to “The Golden Rule.” Our younger students focus on making and keeping our new friends by showing kind and respectful behavior, as well as understanding the feelings of others. Our older students focus on how demonstrating respectful behavior, compromising, and genuinely listening to others strengthens our Lindsey community.
An additional fundamental piece of our guidance lessons focus on Integrity, or “what we do when no one else is watching.” We concentrate on looking for the good in others, thinking positively, and learning to work through stressful situations in a considerate manner. Being honest, hard-working and fair are all ways that we demonstrate integrity.
Our time discussing Diversity finds us learning about what makes us distinctive and strong. We celebrate the ways that we are uniquely different, as well as what we share in common.
Watching our students grow in their ability to demonstrate and understand Empathy is incredibly rewarding. Listening to them share what being a good friend looks like, and appreciate how powerful compassion can be shows us just how much our students are growing. While working on our 5 pillars, we also weave the concepts of responsibility and problem solving along with career exploration into our activities and discussions.
Throughout our classroom time together, we are also implementing Lindsey’s 3 R’s (Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Ready to Learn). Our goal for classroom guidance is to enrich the social and emotional growth of all our children on a multi-tiered level.
